What an exciting night at the Elma Roane Feildhouse last night. Down by 9 early, the Lady Tigers fought back and knocked off Southern Miss to pull into a tie for 5th place with one game to go tomorrow against UCF. Great to see the crowd and they really helped out down the stretch. Gutsy performance by Jessica Hall who played though pain with a banged up shoulder and hit some key free throws late. Tomorrow will surely be an emotional day as we say good-bye to our lone senior, Aroha Jennings.

It's been a long four years for me. Never even thought I'd make it this far in track & field. I came in as a walk-on basically to stay in shape so that I could go out for football the next season and ended up getting stuck. I don't really regret it because I came a long way. I can still remember my freshman year coming on to the team and how many of us it was in my class. Now it is cut down to just two of us; myself and Sam James. One of the biggest things that always clouded my mind running collegiate track was, "Am I good enough to ever place top three and win any medals?" Well that question was quickly answered when I, out of nowhere, placed second in the 400m hurdles at outdoor conference my sophomore year. This was a surprise to both me and the rest of the team as it opened my eyes to understanding how capable I was of doing well in the sport. Going into my junior year I ended the indoor season with third place in the 60m hurdles, which had been one of my weakest races up until then. Then the biggest shocker came when I pulled through to get first in the 110 hurdles during outdoor conference. After I pulled that off I knew that I was going to have to step my game up because I knew that the other coaches from the other schools were going to do their best to make sure that didn't happen again.

Hey Lady Tiger fans...just a quick note to let everyone know that Saturday's game time against UCF has been changed since we did all the print pieces (posters, media guides, game-day programs). We will now play at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse. That game will also be Senior Night for Aroha Jennings, who will do our first player blog in the next day or so. Thanks and Go Tigers! Tammy DeGroff, Athletic Media Relations (td)

Big weekend for Lady Tiger basketball team starting tonight. We face Southern Miss at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse, and after Saturday night we could finish anywhere from 5th to 9th in the league standings. Regardless of where we finish, it's a nice improvement from the last two years. We know what to expect out of the Eagles tonight, full-court pressing and a lot of running on offense. Hope to see you out there this weekend. Your attendance could be the difference.

Well here I am, my first blog entry. First of all, I want to think Jennifer Rodrigues for asking me to do this, along with Tammy DeGroff and Jason Redd, it’s truly an honor. Now for those that don’t know me, let me tell you just a little about myself.

I am in my fifth season as the radio voice of Lady Tiger Basketball and Tiger Baseball. It’s been a great five years because I’m an alum of Memphis and would not want to be any where else. I graduated in 1996 and actually started as an elementary student at then-Memphis State Campus School. My mother, Peggy, worked in Human Resources and retired from the University about five years ago and I still have family that works on campus. So, I’ve been around the school for a long, long time.
