Hello everyone, well today I turn 36, so now I'm closer to 50 than I am 20. It gives me time to reflect on how lucky I am to be able to do what I want to do where I want to do it, and that's be a broadcaster for my Alma Mater.
A lot has happened since I was born way back in 1972. Basketball has played in three Final Fours and two National Championship games. Who would have ever thought, being a child of the 80's that I'd see football go to four bowls in five years. Women's basketball has started a new era with just its fourth head coach, heck, when I was born; there was no NCAA women's basketball. Baseball will see a newly renovated stadium within the next year and football has started accepting pledges for a new weight room.
As a child, I was my dad's remote control for the TV, this year, I'll be calling games on the internet - and I thought my first Atari was great. Technology sure has changed.
As an Alum, I've seen our campus change from a grid of streets to a pedestrian campus, a new library added when I was a student. The Alumni Mall, Rose Theatre, and adjacent parking garage weren't even in existence when I was attending elementary at Memphis State Campus School.
I hope I've got another 36 years in me and they're all spent as a Tiger Broadcaster.
