The best thing I loved about today was that we never let the thought of defeat enter our minds. We were all in it to win it, and several players stepped up to make sure that happened.

Vanessa kept McNeese's hitters honest and made them work for anything they got, which wasn't much. Keenah commanded the game behind the plate, gunning down two runners and making a diving catch. She is a great addition to our team this year.

Both Lelani and Maddie had top notch performances at the plate each picking up 2 hits. Maddie led off our come back show with a double, and then advanced herself to third on a wild pitch for Kailey to add to her RBI count. Kailey knew exactly what we needed. She stepped into the box confident and got it done. A deep fly ball+a runner of third+less than 2 outs=Perfect Situational Hitting! Those long practices of situational hitting paid off!

Just the other day, we were having a team chat about what sport we would play if we didn't play softball. Lelani's answer: "I would play football, so I could hit somebody!" This wasn't a statement of anger or aggressiveness but pure competiveness. Lani's competitive spirit and determination to win showed as she plowed through the first baseman on a wild throw allowing Alyssa to score the game winning run. Not that Lani would ever intentionally hurt someone, but she had one goal of scoring Alyssa and nothing was going to stop her. Lani showed her class and sportsmanship by helping the first baseman up from the ground, and then joined her team in the celebration of the win!

It feels good to come out on top of a 1-run game! I can't brag enough on our pitching staff right now. They are stepping up and getting the job done. The hitters are right on the edge of exploding and putting it all together. When this happens, we will be unstoppable! We will ride this wave into our double header against Belmont and then on to Cali on Thursday!
