What a big win for the Women's Basketball team Thursday night, knocking off Marshall to clinch a top-four spot in the CUSA Tournament and a first round bye. I didn't realize until this morning, the win also means we'll finish no lower than a second place tie, however our seeding could range from two to four. This was one of the better coaching jobs I've seen in 15 years of broadcasting. The Tigers only dressed seven players and one had only played two minutes all season. Coach McFerrin had a great game plan and the players did a tremendous job of executing it. I hope to see all of you at FedExForum tommorrow afternoon a 1:00 when we face East Carolina. This will be a great opportunity for the fans to show their appreciation of what this team has accomplished this year, with hopefully more to come.
Baseball had another dissappointing loss on Tuesday, falling 5-4 at Tennessee-Martin. The Tigers continue to struggle driving in runs, leaving 12 men on base, with five of those in scoring position. The team is hitting well overall, just not when running are in scoring position. The Tigers have a chance to turn that around today when they start play in what could be our last trip to Millington. The "USA College Classic" starts this afternoon at USA Stadium and Memphis will face Toledo at 3:30, then play Pitt tommorrow at 3:30, and Bradley Sunday at 2:30. We'll have the game today and Sunday on WUMR 91.7fm but there will be no broadcast of tommorrow's game with Pitt.
