Just taking a quick break from prepping for two big home games this week (Thursday vs. Marshall at the Fieldhouse and Saturday at 1 p.m. vs. East Carolina at FedExForum) and wanted to pass along some congratulations for a couple of Tigers.
Former Tiger LaTonya Johnson had her high school jersey retired. I got a call from a Nashville area paper, but can't seem to find it, so either it hasn't run yet, or didn't get printed for whatever reason. But congrats to our first WNBA draftee!

Also congrats are in order for recent graduates Ashley Thornton and Paris Leonard. Both have been selected to participate in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) So You Want To Be a Coach program. That program takes place over two-and-a-half days at the Final Four in San Antonio and is sponsored by the WBCA, the NCAA Diversity and Inclusion, NCAA Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee and the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics. Student-athletes who have exhausted their eligibility at a four-year institution or have graduated in the past year are eligible and must be nominated by a WBCA head coach. Each participant is selected based on their academics, contributions to women's basketball on and off the court, professional resume and a written recommendation.

Always good stuff to hear! When's the WNBA draft this year? It's hard to follow, but I'm hoping to get a little more into it this year since the Tigers have been doing so well.
