It's hard to believe, but it's almost time! The Tigers will host an exhibition game against Christian Brothers University, Sunday, at 2 p.m. in the Elma Roane Fieldhouse. This will be one of just two games where you can see the Tigers in the on-campus gym, as the team will open the season at FedExForum on Nov. 12th against Missouri, then will come back to host Grambling State before playing the next five games on the road.

The Tigers participated in a closed scrimmage against Union University over the weekend. Union has won four of the last six NAIA National Championships, so they presented a stiff test for the Tigers. Unlike NCAA rules, NAIA coaches can work with their athletes the day classes start and have no 20-hour week restrictions, so the Union Lady Bulldogs are further along in their respective game plan than Memphis likely is. That was what Coach McFerrin warned the team about in a practice huddle earlier in the week in order to get the team to step up in practice and to get them mentally ready to face a team that comes in to the season as the No. 1 team in the national polls. Union will be the exhibition team that both Tennessee and Vanderbilt play in the next week.

Unfortunately for fans, NCAA rules do not allow anyone outside the team to be in the gym for a closed scrimmage, so Tiger fans will have to come to the gym on Sunday to get a first look at the team when cross-town foe Christian Brothers comes to the Elma Roane Fieldhouse for a 2 p.m. tip. Like the Tigers' first regular season opponent, CBU has a new head coach and will have a re-energized team that will look to upend the Tigers on their home floor. Sarah Condra is in her first season as the head coach at CBU after spending the past year as an assistant at CBU. Condra is CBU's all-time leading scorer and as a player, helped CBU to a Gulf South Conference West Division title and the school's first-ever NCAA Division II Regional berth in her senior season. Her team is picked to finish 7th in the West in the GSC standings, but returns five seniors and a lot of experience.

As always, Jeff Brightwell will have the play-by-play call for the Sunday exhibition game. You can listen to the game on WUMR, 91.7 FM and fans outside of WUMR's listening area can watch live streaming video with Brightwell's audio call through an All-Access subscription on All of Memphis' home games will be streamed live on the internet and all the Tigers' C-USA road games will also be shown online for All-Access subscribers.
