MEMPHIS, TENN. - Several University of Memphis student-athletes gave back to the community last weekend, participating in service events arranged by the CHAMPS/Life Skills Department.

On Friday, Tiger student-athletes from the volleyball and golf teams volunteered for the first Read to Succeed event of the semester. The CHAMPS/Life Skills Program organizes the Read to Succeed program in which student-athletes visit a local school once a month to read to younger students. This semester, student-athletes will be visiting the Barbara Lipman School on the U of M campus on the first Friday of every month.

For the second year in a row, Tiger student-athletes visited the Wesley Highland Terrace Retirement Center and hosted a Valentine's Day Ball with the residents. More than 40 student-athletes volunteered their time last Saturday. The student-athletes visited with the Wesley Highland Terrace residents while also serving them beverages and snacks. The residents were also treated to music and dancing.
