Memphis Athletics Has 60 Student-Athletes Earn C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal Honor
March 28, 2012 IRVING, Texas - For the seventh-straight year, the University of Memphis athletics program finished among the league's top-two schools in Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal recipients, the conference office announced Wednesday. The Tigers had a school-record 60 student-athletes receive the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal. Memphis narrowly finished second to Tulsa's 63 academic medal winners. East Carolina was third with 49 recipients. A total of 538 student-athletes from the conference's 12-member institutions earned the distinction. To receive the honor, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.75 or higher. This is the sixth-consecutive year the number of Memphis student-athletes receiving the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal has increased. It is also the seventh-straight year Memphis had the most or second-most student-athletes honored among the league's schools, as the Tigers were first in 2006, 2009 and 2010 and second in 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2012.
