Memphis Athletics Has 54 Student-Athletes Earn C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal Honor

IRVING, Texas - For the eighth-straight year, the University of Memphis athletics program finished among the league's top-two schools in Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal recipients, the conference office announced Friday.
The Tigers had 54 student-athletes receive the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal. Memphis finished second to Tulsa's 70 academic medal winners. East Carolina was third with 49 recipients.
A total of 538 student-athletes earned the distinction for the 2012-13 academic year. To receive the honor, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.75 or higher.
This is the fifth-consecutive year that Memphis had 45 or more student-athletes receive the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal. It is also the eighth-straight year Memphis had the most or second-most student-athletes honored among the league's schools, as the Tigers were first in 2006, 2009 and 2010 and second in 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
