Hello American Athletic Conference, We Are Memphis:

On July 1, the University of Memphis officially became a member of the American Athletic Conference. Beginning July 8, GoTigersGo.com brings a daily introduction of each sport at the University of Memphis to the American Athletic Conference. Cross Country Team GPA Rank

For the second-straight year, the men's and women's cross country teams were each tabbed 2012 USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams. Of the 145 Division I men's teams to receive the honor, the Tigers ranked first with a team GPA of 3.65. The men's and women's track and field squads also received the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honor in back-to-back years (2012, 2013). Under current head coach Kevin Robinson, the track and field/cross country programs have produced one CoSIDA Academic All-America honoree, three CoSIDA Academic All-District honorees, 23 individual athlete USTFCCCA All-Academic honorees and 20 Academic All-Conference selections.

All-America Selections

The Tigers have a combined 33 All-America selections (21 men, 12 women) in the program's history. In 2013, Memphis sent seven athletes to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships with six of them earning All-America honors. 
In the 2013 outdoor competition, Kala Funderburk was named All-America second team in the 400m and 4x400m relay.

Individual Conference Championships

Since 1996, the Tigers have produced a combined (men and women) 104 individual event conference champions, with 57 of those titles coming under head coach Kevin Robinson. The men's team won the Conference USA Outdoor Championship in 2007.
Georgio Lynwood has captured three high jump conference titles (two indoor, one outdoor).

NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Qualifiers

Since the NCAA moved to a regional qualifying format in 2001, the Tigers have sent 140 athletes (87 men, 53 women) to the postseason. In 2013, the program qualified 19 athletes (10 men, 9 women) setting a new program record.  
In 2013, Maya Williamson qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary in the 400m hurdles and 4x400m relay, advancing to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship in both.
1954

Memphis Track and Field Begins

In 1954, the University of Memphis fielded its first varsity men's track and field team. Women's track and field was added in 1985. The Tigers have produced six national champions and three national runner-ups.
Steffen Nerdal was a two-time national runner-up in the hammer throw (2009, 2010).
2013

A New Beginning

In May of 2013, work began on phase one of the Murphy Track and Field complex renovation. When completed, the Tigers will have a state of the art facility in which to train and host top-level track and field meets.
