Memphis Tigers Athletics Strategic Plan
Oct. 5, 2012
The University of Memphis Athletic Department launched its first Strategic Plan for Athletics as part of the first 100 days of Athletic Director Tom Bowen's administration. The plan is designed to give direction to the athletic department as it moves into the BIG EAST Conference.
"We have spent the past three months gathering information from numerous sources as to the perception of athletics at Memphis," Bowen said. "We held a series of town hall meetings in August as part of our fact-finding mission and have additionally received numerous written responses from fans and constituents.
"The coaches and administrators within the department have all written assessments of their programs and the goals that they believe to be obtainable in future years," Bowen continued. "The information and suggestions have been studied in-depth and used as part of the structure for this plan."
"We now feel that we have a plan in place that will assist the entire department as we continue the 'March to the BIG EAST'," Bowen stated. "This is not the end, but rather the beginning, of the Tigers being a competitive member of a BCS Conference."
