MEMPHIS, Tenn. - - The buzz is picking up around the city and University of Memphis, and it will grow all week until it reaches a fever pitch Friday, Oct. 14 when Memphis Madness opens the doors to FedExForum at 5:30 p.m. (CT).

In preparation for the annual tip-off celebration to the basketball season, the Memphis Athletics Department announced on Monday procedures for University students to attend Friday's event. The procedures are as follows:

• The Department of Athletics is reserving the lower bowl (Sections 117, 118, 101, 102) for full-time students with a valid University of Memphis ID. Memphis Madness is a free event, and thus, there will be no guest tickets for the student section. If a student comes with another person who does not have a valid University ID, they will have to enter the west doors and sit in the general seating areas of FedExForum.

• Students will be admitted ONLY through the North Doors of the Grand Lobby off Beale Street Alley. Students will be allowed to begin lining up at 2:00 PM. Blue Crew members will be admitted at 5:15 p.m. (CT). All other students will be admitted at 5:30 p.m. (CT).

• On entry, all students will have their ID scanned, and then will be given a seat assignment, just as for regular season games. Therefore, if a group wishes to sit together, they must stay together. No one will be allowed into the section without a seat assignment. If a student (or anyone) leaves FedExForum after this time, they will not be allowed to re-enter the building (no re-entries).

• At 7:00 p.m. (CT), if any seats in the student section are still available, they will be given to the general public as long as the supply lasts.
