November Student-Athlete Scholars of the Month
Nov. 8, 2013
Tiger athletes are making quite the impression with the CAAS staff this fall. Freshmen, Jake Elliott, Marta Morga, and Kevin Lee were all named CAAS Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of November.
Jake Elliott, football place kicker from Western Springs, Ill., is a great addition not only to the football team but also to the classroom. Majoring in business, Elliott retains a 3.5 GPA and has made a positive impression on the CAAS staff weekly. Elliott’s great attitude aids in his success on and off the field.
Elliott was recently named one of 20 semifinalists for the 2013 Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award. He has converted 11-of-12 field goal attempts, including 5-for-5 from 40+ yards. His career-long 52 yarder tied for the second-longest in school history. Elliott leads the Tigers with 46 points scored in 2013.
Morga is 7-2 in the fall and claimed a title at the Memphis Collegiate Invite last week in the Orange Draw.
These three Tiger athletes have a bright future ahead of them at the University of Memphis. The CAAS staff is happy to have them and seeing them excel in their sport is a huge bonus. Be on the lookout for these athletes on the field and court in the coming seasons.
