MEMPHIS, TENN. - The University of Memphis Athletic Department and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee collected over 1,000 pounds of food to donate to the Memphis Food Bank this Thanksgiving.

Many members of the athletic teams, coaches, administrators and staff participated in the event that yielded 14 boxes (1,138 pounds) of canned goods and non-perishable items which will feed 910 people. The Tiger football team produced the most goods with 594 items. Three other teams brought in over 100 items including track, baseball and men's soccer.

In addition to providing items for the Memphis Food Bank, there is also a collection campaign in progress to provide a monetary donation to the Toys for Tots program.
