MEMPHIS, TENN. - Services have been set for Murray Armstrong, who served the University of Memphis athletic department in numerous capacities during his 46-year career. Armstrong died Saturday at his home after a four-year battle with cancer.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 2, from 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at Peebles West Chapel (10670 Hwy 64; 901-465-3535) located in Oakland on Hwy 64 between Oakland and Somerville. The funeral service will be at Somerville First United Methodist Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. The church is located at 202 S. East Street in Somerville, Tenn.

Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home (peeblesfuneralhome.com) is in charge of arrangements.

The Armstrong family wishes to notify well-wishers that the visitation or interment are more appropriate venues for larger attendance. The Peebles West Chapel can accommodate 600 people, while the Somerville First United Methodist Church accommodates only 200.

From Memphis Take Interstate 40 north toward Nashville. At exit 18, turn RIGHT onto Ramp for 0.2 mi towards US-64/Somerville/Bolivar. Take Ramp (South) onto US-64 [SR-15] to Oakland. West Chapel is 3.4 miles past the light (at McDonalds) on right.

From Nashville Take Interstate 40 south toward Memphis. At exit 35, turn LEFT onto Ramp for 0.2 mi toward TN-59/Covington/Somerville. Turn LEFT(South-East) onto SR-59 for 2.3 mi. Turn RIGHT (South) onto SR-194 [Oakland Rd] for 8.3 mi. Turn LEFT (East) onto US-64 [SR-15] for 3.4 mi. West Chapel is on Right.
