Tiger Athletics Donates Toys To Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center
Dec. 12, 2007 MEMPHIS, TENN. - The University of Memphis Athletic Department raised money as part of a "two cans and a dollar" promotion during November and was able to provide toys to Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center as well as food for the Memphis Food Bank. Just over $400 was raised and members of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the CHAMPS/Life Skills department purchased over 50 toy items that were placed in the Bunny Room at the hospital. The Bunny Room is a special place for children to pick out a toy before surgery and then when they come out of surgery, the toy is waiting for them. Numerous Tiger student-athletes assisted in purchasing the toys as well as delivering the items to the hospital. This was the second event that Tiger Athletics had been involved in assisting Le Bonheur as the U of M hosted a toy drive prior to the season opening football game against Ole Miss. |
