Tim Duncan joined the Athletic Department in June of 2007 as the Executive Director of the M Club, the athletic alumni organization of the University of Memphis. He is responsible for the strategic planning, budget planning and management, event development and management, fundraising, public relations, and member services for the M Club.
Since coming on board, Duncan has overseen a quick turnaround in the M Club. Membership has risen over 40 percent and revenue has increased by 35 percent, both are record highs for the letterwinner's organization.
Duncan is also the lead project manager for the design and construction of the new University of Memphis Athletics Hall of Fame and spearheads several other special fundraising projects for the athletic department.
Prior to coming to the University of Memphis, Tim was an entrepreneur having owned a franchise, in addition to an event marketing company InfraRed Marketing, LLC. As an entrepreneur, Tim sharpened his skills by being the primary new business development officer and account manager for Fortune 500 clients Verizon Wireless, International Paper, Dell, and RJ Reynolds.
From 1996-2003, Tim was a sports and event marketing executive at Russell Athletic and RJ Reynolds. He gained tremendous experience by working with partner organizations Major League Baseball, the Senior Bowl, the PGA Tour, NHRA and NASCAR. He got his first taste of intercollegiate athletics by working with Auburn University, Clemson University and Georgia Tech University on their Russell Athletic apparel contracts. He also taught sport management majors for four years at Winston-Salem State University.
Tim is a former student-athlete who played for the former Memphis State University men's basketball team from 1988-1992. A graduate of Memphis' Melrose High School, Duncan appeared in over 55 games with the Tigers. The 6'8" forward graduated from Memphis State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration (marketing) in 1992 before pursuing and completing his Master of Science in Sports Administration from Grambling State University in 1997.
Duncan is married to a native Memphian, the former Lisa Farris, who works at St. Jude's Children Research Hospital. They have five children Lisa (Virdure), Torin, Tyson, Turner, and Tatum.
