New addition brings 16 years of compliance experience to Memphis
Jason Gray was named Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at the University of Memphis in July, 2013.
Gray joined the Memphis administrative staff from the University of Southern Mississippi where he served as the Senior Associate Athletic Director for compliance the previous six years.
At Southern Miss, Gray managed the university's athletic compliance efforts and supervised student-athlete services including the Student Academic Enhancement program, life skills, strength and conditioning and sports medicine. He also oversaw student-athlete financial aid, the NCAA certification process, eligibility, NCAA special assistance funds and the department's graduate assistants.
While at Southern Miss, Gray implemented a new system for monitoring recruitment activities.
Gray joined the Southern Miss administration team from Rice University where he served as Associate Athletic Director for Compliance for seven years. He also served three years as the Assistant Director of Compliance at Baylor following a one-year compliance internship at Louisiana State.
Gray earned his bachelor's degree in Sport Administration and Business Administration from Southern Miss in 1996 and a year later completed work toward a master's degree in Sports Management from West Virginia while serving as a compliance graduate assistant in the university's athletic department.
Gray and his wife Kristyn have two children, Mary Kate (11) and Jack (6).
