Oxford, Miss. - The University of Memphis rifle team traveled to Oxford, Miss., to compete against Army this weekend and dropped a hard-fought match to the Cadets.

Army won the smallbore event with a score of 2318, while Memphis finished with a 2258. The Cadets also posted an air rifle score of 2323 for the victory in that division, while the Tigers turned in a 2305 total.

Army's John Fiddes won the air rifle event with a score of 589. Beth Tidmore, Memphis' top shooter, placed fourth overall in air with a score of 584. Katie Benjamin followed closely with a 578 which was good enough for fifth place. Krissey Bahnsen, who has struggled with injuries in the fall, placed seventh after turning in a 576. Brian Phillips and J.B. Vaughan tied for 12th with scores of 567, while Bobbi Lee Prewit was 14th with a 549.

Army's Chris Abalo pick up the smallbore title after turning in a score of 587. Katie Benjamin was Memphis' top shooter in smallbore with a 575. Tidmore was eighth with a 571, while Phillips was 10th with a 563. Vaughan rounded out the Tiger shooters with a 549.

The Tigers will shoot at Tennessee Tech this weekend.
