Ft. BENNING, Ga. - A slim eight-point margin cost Memphis' rifle team first place in the Columbus State Invitational 4,559-4,551.

Memphis had a five-point 2,315-2,310 lead after air rifle shooting, but couldn't hold on.

Keegan Singleton led Memphis with a 583 in air rifle, followed by Jessica Phenis' 580, Kelly Audet's 579, and Kaitlynn Lee's 573. CSU's Jonathon Hall led all shooters in air rifle with a 593.

In Smallbore, Singleton also led the way with a 562, while Audet shot 560, Russell 558, and Quick 556. Hall again led all shooters in smallbore with a 576 score.

Memphis would return to action the following day against Jacksonville State University (Ala.).
