COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - - The University of Memphis rifle team finished third in the Newkirk Invitational with a team score of 4541, finishing behind Jacksonville State (4624) and Murray State (4549) and ahead of Tennessee Tech (4496).

The Tigers ranked second following the air rifle portion of the competition, posting a team score of 2292, just behind Jacksonville State's 2333. Jenna Quick led Memphis with a 582 in the air event, followed by Keegan Singleton's 572. Jessica Phenis and Andrew Hahn each shot a 569 in the team score.

In the smallbore, both freshmen shooters, Jenna Quick and Jessica Phenis, fired career bests. Quick led Memphis with a 577, while Phenis scored a 557. Keegan Singleton scored a 565 and Andrew Hahn scored a 550 in Memphis' team score of 2249, which ranked third.

The Tigers will next compete at the UT Martin Invitational.
