No. 6 Tigers Victorious Over No. 19 Columbus State in Final Regular Season Match, 4647-4518

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The No. 6 Memphis Tiger rifle team traveled to Jacksonville, Ala. for their final regular reason match before NCAA qualifying. The Tigers faced off against No. 19 Columbus State Cougars and came out on top of a 4647-4518 decision. 

Freshman Amy Fister and senior Dan Hermsmeier lead the team in small bore, each scoring 582. Fister scored a perfect 200 in the standing position and while Hermsmeier finished one point behind her with 199.

Junior Max Burkhardt finished with 578, followed closely by sophomores Elizabeth Lee with 577 and Nathan Brandeburg with 571.

The Tigers finished the smallbore portion of the competition with a score of 2319, compared to 2236 for Columbus State.

Memphis continued to widen their lead in the air gun portion as Hermsmeier led all shooters with 592, including four shots of 99. Lee scored 582 and Burkhardt finished close behind her with 579. Fister rounded out the scoring with a 575, while Jimmy Zaken shot a personal best 570. The Tigers scored of 2328, giving them the 129 point victory overall.

The next competition the Tigers will face is the NCAA Qualifier in Murray, Ky. Sunday, Feb. 23.
