MEMPHIS, TENN. - The U of M Rifle Squad dropped a close Conference USA meeting with league foe TCU this past weekend. The Horned Frogs defeated Memphis, 1514-1493.

TCU's Stacey Phillips-Hughes captured the individual title with a mark of 391, while Memphis' Beth Tidmore placed second with a total of 386. U of M shooters J.B. Vaughan and Charity Koone placed fifth and sixth, respectively with marks of 373 and 371. Justin Cabaniss rounded our Memphis' efforts with a total of 363 to finish seventh.

Memphis' team total of 1493 was the highest opening match score in the squad's history.

"I was pretty excited about how well we competed this past weekend," said head coach Butch Woolbright. "We started three freshmen and one sophomore, so I am definitely expecting us to be a lot better as the season goes on."

Memphis will host the Tiger Open this weekend from Thursday through Sunday at RangeMaster. Also featured in the event will be Ole Miss, Arkansas and Birmingham Southern.
