MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis rifle team finished third at the Ole Miss Invitational, finishing with a combined score of 5,912, the second-highest aggregate score Memphis has ever shot.

The Tigers finished third in the small bore competition, led by personal best scores from Beth Tidmore and JB Vaughan. Memphis' 4405 was behind Ole Miss' 4463 and Texas-El Paso's 4503.

In the air rifle event, the Tigers were led by freshman Katie Benjamin, who fired a 386. Tidmore had Memphis' second-highest score with a 384, while Vaughan had a 374. Senior Bobby Lablanc fired a 363.

UTEP won the team title with a 4503 in the small bore competition and a 1531 in the air rifle. Ole Miss was second with a 4463 in the small bore and a 1517 in the air rifle.

The rifle team will next be in action, Nov. 15th at the Walsh tournament in Cincinnati. The rifle team's next home match will be a match against Mercer and UAB, Jan. 29, 2004.
