No. 10 Memphis Rifle Team Finishes Third at Tiger Open

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Junior All-American Dan Hermsmeier took top honors in the individual smallbore this past week and tied for second in the individual air rifle to lead the No. 10 Tigers to a third place finish in the Tiger Open at Range Master.
Hermsmeier captured his second Tiger Open smallbore title, improving from last year's score of 581, shooting a 582. Hermsmeier fell just short of the individual air rifle title, tying for second with a 588, two points shy of UT-Martin's Jessica Cobb.
The Tigers put together an aggregate score of 4597, 2329 in air rifle and 2268 in smallbore, just behind Ole Miss (4600) and UT-Martin (4601).
Sophomore Max Burkhardt put together top ten performances in both air and smallbore as well in the Open, finishing sixth in air (584) and eighth in smallbore (569).
Joinng Burkhardt in the top ten was senior Kelly Audet who tallied a 582 in air to finish eighth and a 565 in smallbore to finish 10th.
Lee shot a 575 in the individual air rifle for a top 15 finish and finished 27th in smallbore with a 539.
Brandeburg shot a 552 in the smallbore to tie UT-Martin's Mark McClallen for 19th and a shot a 565 and an individual in the air rifle.
Junior Jimmy Zaken tallied a 568 in the air rifle to round out the Tiger's team scores. Despite the third place finish, Memphis topped the competition in the air rifle team results.
The Tigers will now prepare for its trip to West Point, N.Y. to take on Army on October 15.
