MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis rifle team was edged 2344-2286 by the University of Kentucky and 4639-4606 by Army on a pair of road trips last week.

At Army, the Tigers scored 2294 in SmallBore and 2312 in rifle, while Army tallied a 2324 total in Small Bore and just three points more than Memphis in air with 2315. Jessica Jasis led Memphis in small bore with a 580, while Brian Philips fired a 572. Teammates Krissy Bahnsen and Katie Benjamin each posted a 571 for the team total of 2294. In air rifle, Jasis again led the Tiger with a 586. Benjamin was second with a 584 and Bahnsen was third with a 582. Jasis recorded one of two perfect 100's among both teams in any position in air rifle, firing it in the first round. Teammate Krissey Bahnsen also added a perfect 100 in the third round.

In individual scoring, Bobbie Lee Prewit fired a 559 in air rifle, the fifth-best total of the meet. Both Bobbie and Andre Hahn shot as individuals, with Hahn firing a 560 in air.

At Kentucky, Memphis was barely edged again by the home team, as the Tigers fired a 2318 in air rifle compared to a 2335 from Kentucky. Among individual shooters, Jessica Jasis finished third with a 583 in air, while Kate Benjamin finished fifth with a 580. Teammate Krissy Bahnsen finished sixth, also with a 580, and Brian Phillips finished eighth with a 575. Teammate Andrew Hahn scored a 573 to finish ninth in air individual scoring.

Katie Benjamin ranked sixth in the individual small bore at Kentucky, firing a 576, one ahead of teammate Jessica Jasis and her 575.

The rifle team will next compete at the Nebraska Open on Nov. 6th.
