Gamecock Invitational Results Get Acrobat Reader

Jacksonville, Ala. - Just a day after dropping Columbus State, the No. 14 Memphis rifle team traveled to the Gamecock Invitational, topping Columbus State again as well as Murray State and finished second to host Jacksonville State.

The Tigers shot a combined 4625, only 14 points behind No. 5 Jacksonville State.

Junior Dan Hermsmeier continued to shine, leading the team in both the small bore while freshman Elizabeth Leeled the way in air.

Hermsmeier fell just one point shy of the Gamecock's Sam Muegge for top honors in small bore, shooting a 583. Lee continued her impressive freshman campaign with another top five finish in air rifle, posting a 584.

Also earning top ten spots in small bore for Memphis were sophomore Max Burkhardt and freshman Nathan Brandeburg, tying for sixth with a 575.

Senior Kelly Audetposted a 570, tying her for 11th in small bore.

Hermsmeier then went on to finish tied for seventh in the air rifle competition, shooting a 582. Audet shot just behind him for 13th and posted a 579.

Burkhardt (577) and junior Jimmy Zaken (560) rounded out Memphis shooters in air rifle.

The No. 14 Tigers take a long break but will return to action on January 20 when they take on regional foe, Kentucky.
