Rifle Ranked 13th in Country in Mid-Season Polls

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - - The University of Memphis rifle team, guided by Butch Woolbright, is ranked No. 13 in the country in the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association Mid-Season Rankings. The Tigers rank 13th with 4550.2 aggregate points. The top ranked team in the country, Kentucky, has 4655.2 points. In the rankings by discipline, Memphis ranks 14th in the smallbore rankings. The Tigers are ranked one slot higher in the air rifle rankings, ranking 13th in the country. The Tigers return to campus this week for the Thursday beginning of classes for the spring semester, and will travel to Cookeville, Tenn., on Saturday to compete in the Newkirk Invitational. The team will cap off a busy month of January with a Jan. 28th meet at UT Martin and with a Jan. 29th competition at home in the Tiger Spring Open. The January schedule wraps up against North Carolina State in a neutral site shoot in Oxford, Miss., before the Tigers compete in their final two regular season meets at the Withrow Invitational (Murray, Ky.) on Feb. 1st and at Nebraska, Feb. 7th. The team will then compete at the NCAA Qualifier in Oxford, Miss., on Feb. 15th and will compete in the Great American Rifle Conference Championship on Feb. 27-28th, also in Oxford, Miss. 2008-09 Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association Mid-Season Rankings
