The Memphis rifle team earned itself a No. 14 preseason ranking in the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) Top 20 Coaches Poll as released on Saturday, September 8. TCU grabbed the top spot while the University of Kentucky and West Virgina came in at two and three.

The Tigers finished sixth in the Great American Rifle Conference last season but will look to improve this season, returning six letter winners this season including All-Americans Dan Hermsmeier and Kelly Audet. Memphis opens its season on Saturday, September 29 when it hosts the annual Tiger open.
