Hermsmeier Earns Smallbore Title at Tiger Open

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - University of Memphis All-American marksman Dan Hermsmeier claimed individual smallbore honors at the Tiger Open, leading the team to a second-place overall finish. The sophomore Chesterfield, Mo., native shot a smallbore mark of 581 at Memphis'-own Range Master facility to claim the individual title. Hermsmeier was trailed by Tiger teammate and true freshman Max Burkhardt who, in his first collegiate match, placed third with a smallbore mark of 577. Sophomore Linn Larsen finished seventh in the smallbore category with a tally of 569, marking a career performance for the Oslo, Norway, native. As a team, the Tigers fell to Jacksonville State by a margin of 4602 (2320-2282) to 4594 (2328-2266), finishing with an aggregate second-place finish. Ole Miss placed third with a total tally of 4579 (2341-2238). Tiger rifle now prepares for competition in Oxford, Miss., which will be hosted by a combination of Ole Miss and Army.
