MEMPHIS, TENN. - In the Horned Frog Invitational this past weekend, freshman team captain Beth Tidmore shot a new personal best with an 1126 in the smallbore competition to lead the Tigers. She also led Memphis in the air rifle category with a score of 384.

The Tigers as a team finished third in both air rifle and smallbore with scores of 1,487 and 4,335, respectively. Memphis' total score for both events was 5,822.

"We finished 42 points better this week than we had just a week ago at Ole Miss," said head coach Butch Woolbright. "I am proud of how well this young team is doing, as we have improved each week."

In the air rifle event, J.B. Vaughan followed Tidmore with a score of 377. Charity Koone placed third for the U of M with a 365, followed by Bobby LeBlanc with a 363. Justin Cabaniss shot a 361, while J.C. Faircloth rounded out the Memphis shooters with a 327.

In the smallbore event, which Memphis competed in for just the second time this season, Cabaniss and Vaughan placed a close second and third for Memphis with totals of 1,088 and 1,083, respectively. LeBlanc scored a 1,052 while Koone shot a 1,038.

Memphis will be back in action on Nov. 2 when they travel to Cookeville, Tenn., to shoot against Tennessee Tech.
