2008 (Redshirt freshman): Was on a tear, hitting a team-best .311 with eight RBI, a double and a homer when his season was abruptly halted vs. SEMO (3/14/08)...Took a fastball to the jaw, breaking it two places and ending his true freshman season...Played in 14 games, making 13 starts at second base and in the designated hitter slot in the Tiger lineup...Put together three multi-hit games, including a 3-for-4 day vs. National Runner-Up Georgia (3/9/08)...Helped Memphis to a 7-6 come-from-behind win over the Bulldogs by driving in the game-tying run in the eighth inning...Was 1-for-2 with three RBI and his first collegiate home run vs. Ohio (2/29/08)...Hit .363 (4-for-11) in the Ohio series and .454 (5-for-11) in three games versus UGA...Got off to a 1-for-12 (.083) start, before going 13-for-33 (.394) in the 10 games prior to his injury...Hit safely in nine of his last 10 games...Ended the year with a five-game hit streak...Drove in seven two-out RBI in 14 games...Hit .400 with runners in scoring position and .417 with two outs.
Summer 2008: Selected as the as the No. 4 prospect in the Valley League by Baseball America...Had a standout summer as the starting shortstop for the Valley League champion, Luray Wranglers...Was selected as a Valley League All-Star...Second Team All-Valley League honoree...Hit .258 with 49 hits, 27 runs scored and six doubles in 52 games...Led Luray with 32 RBI and 22 walks...Tied for the team lead with nine homer runs...Finished the summer ranked in the league's top 10 in home runs per game, RBI per game and total bases per game.
Prep: Was a four-year letterman for Head Coach and former Tiger Lane McCarter at Houston High School...Injury limited his senior season...Hit .372 with 13 RBI, 11 runs scored, four doubles and a homer in his senior campaign...Helped the Mustangs to a Class AAA State Championship in 2005...Garnered all-metro honors...Was named to the Junior SunBelt Team in 2006 along with current freshmen Marcus Barnes, Ryan Holland and Chad Zurcher...Led the Mustangs to a 26-16 record while hitting .382 with four home runs and 32 RBI...Was a prep teammate of current Tigers Trey Wiedman and Worth Tate.
