Jordan Tolliver enters his first season as a student assistant for the University of Memphis baseball team. Tolliver will assist in coaching the Tiger hitters and middle infielders, as well as aiding Osborne in the upkeep and maintenance of Tom DeHart Field.
A two-year letterwinner at Memphis as a shortstop (2005) and utility infielder (2006), Tolliver drew the starting nod in 62 of the 78 games he played in over his two-year career as a Tiger. A co-captain for the 2006 team, Tolliver started in all 54 games he played in the 2005 season and led the team with 47 runs scored, 250 plate appearance and 160 assists in the field. As a Tiger, Tolliver hit .285 with 29 RBI, 13 doubles and four homers.
Tolliver came to Memphis from John A. Logan College, where he earned a pair of letters as a shortstop. He finished his juco career with a .340 batting average, 38 doubles and seven homers.
A native of Flora, Ill., Tolliver is a sport management major. He is set to earn his degree in May 2007.
