MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis Tiger baseball team (7-3) dropped an 11-4 decision to the visiting Bears of Southwest Missouri State (6-5), on Friday afternoon.

John Reinecker (2-1) got the start for the Bears and went for a complete game, allowing only four earned runs on six hits and struck out 12 Tiger batters, for his second win of the season.

For the Tigers, junior second baseman Daniel Uggla led the way, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored. Senior pitcher Jason Wiedmeyer (2-2) suffered his second loss of the season, going for three-and-a-third and allowing five earned on seven hits but still struck out four.

Memphis didn't help it's cause by committing three fielding errors while SMS was error-less.

The game was relatively close with both teams scoring in the first inning but it was the Bears five-run explosion in the top of the third inning that eventually proved to be too much for the Tigers.

Memphis scored two more runs to make score 8-4 after six but SMS closed the deal in the top of the eighth after Ryan Howard blasted a two-run homer off the scoreboard in left-center which put the Bears ahead for good, for their sixth win of the year.

Memphis will now host the Bears again tomorrow at 2 p.m. for the second game of a three-game set. The game will be played at Nat Buring field.
