Hattiesburg, Ms. - The University of Memphis baseball team was looking to take the last game of a three-game series this Sunday against the Golden Eagles of Southern Miss, after storming out to a 5-0 lead in the second inning. That was until inclement weather halted play in the bottom half of the second inning and eventually forced the game to be rained-out. Both teams waited for appoximately 1 hour and six minutes, before getting weather reports that forecasted severe weather approaching for the rest of the afternoon, and after that the game was called.

The game was originally scheduled for a 1 p.m. start, but was re-scheduled for 12 p.m., in an effort to avoid any possible rain-delays or cancellations. The weather however, would not cooperate and the game was called and will not be made up.

The Tigers lost the two previous games this past weekend by scores of 3-2 and 10-9, on Friday and Saturday, repectively. Memphis had the lead in both games, only to lose both contests on late-inning comebacks by Southern Miss.

The Tigers next home game will be on Tuesday March 21st, at 7 p.m. at Nat Buring Stadium. They will host the Commodores of Vanderbilt. Memphis will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak, as their record now stands at 5-15.

The Tigers also began Conference USA play this past weekend and after the two losses to Southern Miss, their conference record now stands at 0-2.
