Memphis baseball dropped an 11-2 decision to Southern Miss at Pete Taylor Park on Friday night.

Freshman right-hander Daniel de Armas entered the game in the bottom of the second with the Tigers trailing 5-1. The Houston High graduate held Southern Miss scoreless and allowed just one hit over 4.1 innings of relief to keep the Tigers within reach.

After de Armas was lifted after the sixth inning, the Golden Eagles plated six runs on eight hits and two walks in the bottom of the seventh to put the game out of reach.

Freshman shortstop Brent Dlugach was 2-for-4 and sophomore left fielder Josh Payne was 2-for-4 with the Tigers lone RBI.

The Tigers are back in action tomorrow when they take on Southern Miss in the final game of a three-game Conference USA series at Pete Taylor Park at 1 p.m.
