MEMPHIS, Tenn. - University of Memphis baseball coach Daron Schoenrock and his staff will hold a pair of winter baseball camps, beginning Jan. 20-21 with High School Hitting and Pitching and Catching Camp, followed by Youth Offensive and Defensive Camp on Jan. 27-28.

High School Camp is available to all players in grades 8-12, and will be held from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Schoenrock and his staff will hold hitters camp on Jan. 20, while pitchers and catchers camp is slated for Jan. 21. All campers will be filmed and evaluated by college coaches and professional scouts.

The Memphis coaching staff, high school coaches, professional scouts and other college coaches will administer a recruiting seminar from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. following hitters camp on Jan. 20. The seminar will address current NCAA rules and player promotion. A question-and-answer session will be held for parents and players to receive guidance on the processes of becoming a student-athlete. Each family will receive a packet with updated NCAA rules and regulations along with information on the recruiting process and how it may pertain to their family.

Available for players ages 7-13, Youth Camp will also run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Jan. 27-28. Day one will feature offensive drills and hitting instruction. Day two will showcase pitchers and defensive instruction. All campers will be filmed and evaluated by college coaches and professional scouts.

The camp fee for both camps is $125 for one day and $200 to attend both days of instruction. The fee to attend the recruiting seminar is $25.

"This weekend is intended to jumpstart players before they start spring practices and their high school or youth seasons," said University of Memphis camps director, Allen Osborne. "Hopefully they can take what we will teach them and incorporate into their game."

Campers will need to bring their baseball glove, hat, pants, bat and batting gloves, jacket, sweatshirt, tennis shoes or turf shoes and lunch. Memphis Tiger baseball merchandise will also be available at the camp store.

Schoenrock and his staff finished the 2006 season with a 32-28 mark--a tie for the nation's second-best turnaround this year. In addition, Schoenrock led Memphis to its first Conference USA semifinal appearance since 2001.
