MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis baseball team's season-opening series with Ohio University has been canceled due to inclement weather that has been forecasted for the mid-south. Despite the game cancellations, the scheduled 2006 Meet the Tigers banquet will still be held at the Holiday Inn University of Memphis at 6:30 p.m.

The Tigers were slated to open 2006 play at home for the first time since the 2001 season with a pair of contests with the Bobcats on Saturday and Sunday. They will now open the season on the road, at Alabama, on Tues., Feb. 21. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

Memphis will return to town for its home-opening game on Feb., 26 against Navy. That contest will be played as part of the Service Academies Spring Classic.
