Junior LHP Caleb Wallingford will make his first start for the Tigers. Memphis is 6-16 in games at Mississippi State, but won the last meeting, 4-3.

• Memphis has four wins in the 26 meetings since 1996. 
• The Tigers are 6-16 in games at Mississippi State since 1978, but edged the Bulldogs 4-3 at Dudy Noble Field in the last meeting (2/29/12). 


• Head Coach Daron Schoenrock was an Assistant Coach from 2002-04 for the Bulldogs. 
• The ties go further in that Coach Schoenrock coached Mississippi State Head Coach John Cohen on the 1987 Bryan Packers, a summer league team in Mississippi.
• Schoenrock recruited and coached Bulldogs Associate Head Coach Butch Thompson at Birmingham Southern in 1991 and 1992. 
• Thompson then joined the coaching staff at Birmingham Southern for the 1994-96 seasons alongside Schoenrock. 
• The ties don't end there as Memphis Associate Head Coach Russ McNickle also spent time at Mississippi State. McNickle was an assistant coach from 2001-08 for the Bulldogs.. 

• The perfect start to the season is the first since 2011 and the 22nd time a Memphis team has started 3-0 since 1948.
• The Tigers improved to 4-0 in 11 of the 21 seasons that it started 3-0.
• In each of the 21 seasons the Tigers started 3-0, Memphis finished .500 or better. Only the 1956 squad posted a .500 record (5-5) after starting 3-0.

• Memphis pitching held Western Michigan to two runs in all three games of the series sweep. 
• Dating back to 1970, the Tigers have an 876-191-1 (.821) record when opponents score four or fewer runs.
• Under Coach Schoenrock, the U of M sports a 145-49 (.768) when the pitching staff holds the opposition under four runs. 


• Wednesday's game is the first road test for the Tigers. 
• Memphis carries a record of 310-418-1 on the road since 1978. 
• The Tigers won their road opener last season, a 4-3 victory at No. 8 Ole Miss.
• The 2013 season also marked the first time the Tigers posted a winning record on the road since 2006.
