Dylan Toscano pitched five innings and allowed two unearned runs to pick up a win in his first career weekend start last week. 


• Memphis is in its 101st year of baseball with a record of 1670-1272-16.  
• IIronman SS Ethan Gross has started in a program-record 156 consecutive games. 
• The Tigers are 4-0 to start a season for the 12th time since 1948 and first since 2001. 
• Memphis’ bullpen has a 3-0 record with 3 SV in 19.2 IP and an ERA of 2.29. 
• Samford leads the series, 2-1. This will be first meeting since 2008.
• The Tigers are 113-68-1 in February games, 35-24 under coach Daron Schoenrock. . 


• Samford opened the season with a three-game series against Valparasio. 
• The Bulldogs avoided the sweep with a furious ninth-inning rally on Sunday and haven’t played since.
• 1B Caleb Bryson was 4-for-4 with 7 RBI on Sunday, including a walk-off grand slam in the sixth-run ninth for the Bulldogs. 
• Samford scored 23 runs in the series, but allowed 24 in losing two games by 11-8 and 6-5 margins.

• On the mound, Samford compiled a 6.67 ERA allowing 20 earned runs on 25 hits in 27 innings.
• he staff walked 19 and struck out 24. The three starters combined allowed 11 hits, 12 earned runs, 10 walks and struck out seven.  


• Memphis and Samford have a series history that elapses three games, two in 2007 and one in 2008.  
• The Tigers lost both games at Samford in 2007, 1-0 and 2-1. Memphis earned an 18-9 victory in 2008 against the Bulldogs.  


• The Tigers play a three-game road series in February for the first time since a 2011 series at Kennesaw State. 
• This series at Samford is the earlier three-game road series on the schedule since the 2000 set at UL-Monroe (Feb. 18-20). 
• Memphis won the series at Kennesaw State in 2011, but was swept in 2000 at UL-Monroe. 

• Memphis earned its first ninth-inning comeback victory since 2011 with the win on Wednesday at No. 7 Mississippi State. 
• The last time the Tigers rallied in the ninth inning for a victory was against No. 14 Southern Miss on April 8, 2011 at FedExPark.
• In that game, Memphis scored two runs in the ninth to win 6-5.

• The Tigers swept Western Michigan to start the season 3-0 and earned a come-from-behind victory over No. 7 Mississippi State on Wednesday to begin 4-0 for the first time since 2001. 
• This season marks only the third time since 1991 that the U of M has started 4-0 and 12th time since 1948. 
• Of the previous 11 teams to start 4-0, six Memphis clubs moved the record to 5-0.  


• Off to a 4-0 start, history suggests the Tigers may finish the season .500 or better.
•  In each of the 11 seasons the Tigers started 4-0, Memphis finished above .500.  
• Tigers teams to start 4-0 and their final record: 2001 (34-24), 1991 (30-24), 1989 (32-23), 1984 (26-15), 1983 (33-12), 1982 (32-10), 1981 (48-11), 1972 (19-14), 1966 (18-10-1), 1963 (17-6) and 1962 (13-5).
