IRVING, Texas - Chase Joiner tossed a complete game shutout against Siena on Saturday and earned Conference USA Pitcher of the Week honors as announced by the league office on Monday.

Joiner's complete game shutout was the first for a Tiger pitcher since Jarrett Grube shutout UAB on April 9, 2004. The Hopkinsville, Ky., native fanned a career-high 12 batters over nine innings and seven of his 12 strikeouts were swing and misses. He allowed seven hits, just one extra-base hit, and did not allow a Siena base runner to reach third base in the game.

Joiner is the first player to earn a weekly accolade this season and the first pitcher to be named the league's pitcher of the week since Sam Moll earned the distinction on April 11, 2011. Joiner is the 20th Tiger pitcher to be named C-USA Pitcher of the Week.
