Houston's trio of starters enters the weekend with a 1.51 ERA allowing just 19 earned runs on 75 hits in 113.1 IP. 

AROUND THE HORN

• Memphis is in its 101st year of baseball with a record of 1701-1284-16.  
• Ironman SS Ethan Gross has started in a program-record 176 consecutive games. 
• The Tigers are in the midst of a nine-game road trip, the longest road trip since 1998.    
• Houston owns a 39-15 edge in the series against Memphis that dates back to the 1997 season.
• Memphis carries a record of 4-20 against Houston at Cougar Field. Three of those four wins game in the 2012 series. 
• The Tigers have  44 stolen bases this season, on pace for 102 which would rank tied for fifth in single-season program history.

SCOUTING THE COUGARS

• Houston opens conference play this weekend after having the conference “bye” weekend a week ago.  
• The Cougars are off to a terrific start sitting at 20-4 and 16-1 on the home turf.
• Offensively, Houston is hitting .274 with 36 doubles, five triples and five doubles for 106 RBI on 119 runs scored.  
• The Cougars are 30-of-40 on steals and have just seven fewer walks (121) than strikeouts (128). 
• Michael Pyeatt leads the team hitting .333 while Caleb Barker has a team-high 16 RBI.   
• Pitching has been a force for the Cougars this season as Houston leads the nation with a staff ERA of 1.55. 
• The Cougars have walked only 36 batters in 215 innings to go against 168 strikeouts as opponents hit .200 against.     
• The trio of starters has combined for a 1.51 ERA having allowed just 19 earned runs on 75 hits over 113.1 IP.
