2002 Dave Anderson Summer Baseball Camps
Tiger Summer Baseball Camp
The TIGER summer baseball camp will be held at Nat Buring Stadium on the South Campus. The camp for ages 8-12 will be held June 17-20, and the camp for ages 13-18 will be held June 24-27. The camps will run from 9 a.m. - noon each day.
The camps will focus on the mechanics of pitching and catching as well as all expects of hitting and all the defensive positions. All campers will receive a camp t-shirt. In case of bad weather the indoor facilities at South Campus will be used.
The instructors for the camp bring a wide range of experience from high school, college, and the professional ranks.
Dave Anderson, Head Baseball Coach at the University of Memphis. Coach Anderson came back to Memphis after 20 years in professional baseball including 10 years as a player with the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants. Last year he led the Tigers to the biggest turnarounds in the NCAA.
Larry Owens, Pitching Coach/University of Memphis. Coach Owens has over 10 years of experience in college and professional baseball. Prior to last season, he spent three years as the pitching coach at Austin Peay State University.
George Holt, Assistant Coach/University of Memphis. Coach Holt came to University of Memphis after a 34-year career at White Station High School where he had a 584-223 record and won a Tennessee state championship, 11 regional championships, and 14 MIAA championships.
