MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Senior shortstop Michael Murray was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV First Team as selected by college Sports Information Directors nationwide on Thurs., May 10. The Baton Rouge, La., native leads Conference USA with a .385 batting average and will now be included on the national CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® ballot.

A junior college transfer in 2006, Murray has put up some of the league's best numbers in his senior campaign. In addition to his team and league-best .385 average at the plate, Murray is tops in the league with a .464 on base percentage. He leads the potent Tiger offense and ranks second among C-USA players with 69 hits and 16 doubles. He ranks in the top-10 in Conference USA in hits (43), slugging percentage (.438) and total bases (91). Murray, who has drawn the starting nod in all 49 contests this season, produced the program's second-longest hit streak earlier this in the year, when he hit safely in 20 consecutive games. He garnered C-USA Hitter of the Week honors on April 9, 2007 after going 9-for-11 and guiding Memphis to its first C-USA series win over the Green Wave since 1996.

Murray was one of 41 University of Memphis student-athletes to receive degrees on Sat., May 5. He graduated with a 3.36 GPA in Biology.
