MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis baseball team begins its final homestand of the season Tuesday when the Tigers welcome UT Martin to FedExPark for a 6:30 p.m. (CT) contest.
Junior Dylan Toscano (3-4) will get the start for Memphis (26-26), his first since taking the mound on May 4 against UConn. On the season, Toscano has compiled a 5.51 ERA in 12 appearances and 10 starts for Memphis. In 50.2 innings pitched, he has totaled 45 strikeouts and allowed 56 hits, 31 earned runs and 15 walks.
Junior Kane Barrow leads the Tigers offense this season with a .323 batting average and a team-high .425 slugging percentage, while sophomore Jake Little follows with a .295 hitting percentage and a team-best 62 hits and five home runs.
UT Martin (9-38) comes into Tuesday's game having lost five of its last eight contests. The Skyhawks took the opening game in a three-game series against Austin Peay on Saturday before dropping the final two games to the Governors that included a walk-off single in the series finale. Taylor Douglas leads UT Martin with a .342 batting average, 28 RBI, 14 doubles and seven home runs. As a team, the Skyhawks are hitting just .225 on the season.
Last weekend, the Tigers dropped a conference series to Cincinnati in Ohio as the Bearcats took games one and three to stay in contention with Memphis for the No. 8 seed in the American Athletic Conference Tournament next week in Clearwater, Fla.
Memphis wraps up its regular season slate later this week at FedExPark with a three-game series against Rutgers (27-22) with the first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
