University of Memphis junior catcher Barrett Smith jumped his average up nearly 20 points in the final three Tiger baseball games to finish the regular season with the fourth highest batting average in C-USA, just behind teammate Daniel Uggla.

Smith was named the C-USA Hitter of the Week for the week of May 7th -13th after leading Memphis to a 4-2 record in their final six games of the season. Smith tallied two home runs and five extra base hits while going 12 for 22 from the plate.

Perhaps most impressive, though, is what Smith accomplished on Friday evening against Cincinnati. Smith became the first Tiger on record to hit for the cycle. He went 4-5 on Friday, racking up his first career triple, his 13th home run of the season, his 13th double, and a single in the Tigers' last at-bat to complete the cycle.

Smith is the third Tiger to take home Player of the Week honors this season. Junior second baseman Daniel Uggla won Hitter of the Week for the week of March 12-19, and senior pitcher Jason Wiedmeyer won Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 9-15 after his complete game, three-hit outing against Southern Mississippi.

Memphis is set to begin the FedEx C-USA Tournament with a 4 p.m. Wednesday game against the same Cincinnati squad that took Saturday's and Sunday's games from Memphis last weekend. Memphis is the #5 seed in the tournament, while Cincinnati is the #4 seed. The tournament is taking place at Zephyr Field in Metairie, La.
