Bright House Networks Field, home of the 2014 American Baseball Championship

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Memphis (28-28) earned the No. 8 seed in the American Baseball Championship that begins on Wednesday at Bright House Networks Field.

The Tigers will open the tournament against top-seed and No. 5 Louisville (43-13) on Thursday at 2 p.m. (CT). Memphis had two one-run setbacks in the three-game series at Louisville. LHP Caleb Wallingford (6-4) is expected to make the start for the Tigers.

Memphis will meet fourth-seeded Rutgers (29-23) in game two of pool play on Friday at 10:00 a.m. (CT). Rutgers edged the Tigers 7-5 on Saturday to take the three-game series.

The U of M closes pool play against USF (26-29) on Saturday at 6 p.m. (CT). The Bulls were the only league opponent to take the first two of a three-game series against the Tigers this season.

Memphis and regular season champion Louisville were the only teams to win at least one game in each conference series. The Tigers though, failed to win a league series for the first time since 2005.
