IRVING, Texas - - Jacob Wilson had eight RBI in the final week of the season and with that effort he was named Conference USA Hitter of the Week as announced by the league office on Sunday.
Wilson batted .381 on the week as the Tigers went 4-0. In the three-game sweep at Houston, Wilson hit .412 and collected four doubles and seven RBI. For the week, he had eight hits, eight RBI and five runs scored, while adding two steals. He also blasted his league-best 16th home run against UT Martin last Tuesday. In the series opener at Houston, Wilson had three hits, including two doubles, and three RBI. On Friday, Wilson had one hit, but it was a big one as he drove in the eventual winning run with a RBI single in the 11th inning. Wilson added three more hits in Saturday's finale, including two doubles, and he drove in three runs in the Tigers 11-0 win.
With the three victories at Houston, Wilson and the Tigers finished with the highest-ever win percentage for the U of M in C-USA play (.583). Wilson is one double shy of tying Steve Moss with 64 doubles for the most in program history. He is also five RBI shy of tying Adam Amar atop the program record books.
