IRVING, Texas ¬- Conference USA announced the 2013 C-USA Baseball All-Academic Team on Monday and Memphis has a league-best four honorees as Sam Moll, Ethan Gross, Tucker Tubbs and Zach Willis earned the distinction.  

Moll and Gross appear on the C-USA All-Academic Team for the second-consecutive season. In total, 11 players were selected to the team by a vote of the league's sports information directors.

LHP Sam Moll has record 100 strikeouts this season to become the sixth pitcher in program history to reach the plateau in single-season history. He is the eighth pitcher in program history to reach 200 career strikeouts as he has struck out 207 entering the C-USA Tournament. Moll sports an 8-3 record with a 2.38 ERA while carrying a 3.71 grade-point average in the classroom. The Lakeland, Tenn., native is a five-time honoree on the Dean's List at the U of M and named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll in all three years. Moll majors in accounting.

SS Ethan Gross tied Mike Dlugach's record for consecutive-games started last weekend at SEMO with his 149th-straight start. Gross hits .233 on the season with 21 RBI and has a team-high 12 stolen bases. Gross sports a 3.88 grade-point average in supply chain management and is a three-year recipient of the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal. The Mt. Juliet, Tenn., native is a five-time Dean's List honoree and posted a perfect 4.0 GPA in the 2012 season.

1B/DH Tucker Tubbs leads the team hitting at a .330 clip for the season. Tubbs has three home runs and 29 RBI to his credit as well as seven doubles. Tubbs has a 3.90 grade-point average in accounting and is a three-time member of the Dean's List and Tiger 3.0 Club. The sophomore from Collierville, Tenn., has been selected to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll twice.

2B Zach Willis has started every game this season for the Tigers and sports a .300 average with a home run and 22 RBI. The junior from Bartlett, Tenn., is second on the club with 10 doubles and has seven stolen bases. Willis has posted a 3.88 grade-point average in accounting and is a five-time Dean's List honoree. Collecting a 3.75 GPA or higher in each year, Willis has received the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal in all three seasons at the U of M.

The four C-USA All-Academic Team honorees are a program record. Last season, Memphis had three selections for the previous program best.

Memphis plays UCF in the first of three pod play games at the C-USA Tournament at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. The C-USA Tournament is hosted by Rice University at Reckling Park in Houston, Texas.
