Memphis, Tenn. - Jonathan Leicester has signed with the Chicago Cubs organization and is playing in the short season Single A league with the Cubs affiliate Eugene Emeralds.

Leicester spent much of the season as the Tigers number one pitcher in a tough season for Memphis. Leicester finished the season with an 0-11 record, but did record 12 strikeouts in a game at Southern Miss. and 48 on the season.

In an injury plagued season for the Tigers, Leicester doubled as a first baseman and designated hitter, where he led the team in doubles with 11 and batted .298 on the season.

Leicester completed his junior season, and in his career with Memphis he amassed a record of 5-17, 125 strikeouts, and a 5.23 ERA. Leicester was drafted in the 11th round by the Cubs in this year's draft.
